Equine & Canine Massage

What is Equine & Canine Massage?

Simply put, it is the application of therapeutic massage techniques adapted to animals, primarily horses and dogs.

Equine massage and canine massage may help with the early detection, contributory factors, treatment and restoration of musculoskeletal imbalances. It plays an important role in chronic pain management and rehabilitation following injury. It has a soothing effect on the nervous system which in turn can help to reduce stress and anxiety.

A qualified massage practitioner could be key in helping your horse or dog maintain its current mobility and fitness, increase it (especially for competition), or in addressing restrictions and imbalances.

Equine and canine massage can also be referred to as sports massage or massage and rehabilitation.

Many of ACAT's practitioner members are qualified animal massage therapists, but ACAT also has members from other complementary therapies.
